To Lend to Those Less Fortunate a Helping Hand...
Phi Mu also provides a venue through which members can contribute and give back to the community in more than just one way. We do more than simply promote the idea of volunteerism, we enable it. Over the past 20 years, Phi Mu has raised over 7 million dollars for 170 Children's Miracle Network nation-wide. Not only that, Phi Mu was the first sorority to establish an annual national philanthropy day. Every year in October, Phi Mu's from all over the country participate in community service events in their area. Here are some examples of ways the Rho Theta Chapter raises money for Children's Miracle Networks Hospitals and serves the Elmhurst Community.
Miracle Jeans Day
Rho Theta kicks off the school year by participating in Miracle Jeans Day in September. On this day we all wear jeans in effort to raise awareness and money for kids treated at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals! We also collect donations in the Elmhurst College Cafeteria In 2015, we raised 172.19 in spare change!
Bingo for Bradley
Each fall, Rho Theta hosts Bingo for Bradley! Bingo for Bradley is our most successful and popular fundraiser in which we invite members from the local community, family members, and students and faculty of Elmhurst College. We host numerous rounds of bingo in which the players are able to win various Vera Bradley items! In November of 2015, we raised over $2,600 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals!
Phi Mu Phield Games
Each spring Rho Theta invites other organizations on campus to participate in this event, which includes a variety of competitions such as relay races and a basketball shoot out. In 2015, we raised $260 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals!
Rho Theta partners with Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity to host a dodgeball tournament every year. The proceeds from this event help support both organizations philanthropies! Last year we raised $250 for our philanthropy!
Pancakes for a Cause
Rho Theta hosted this event for the very first time in Spring of 2015! We invited members of the college, Elmhurst community, as well as family members to enjoy unlimited pancakes cooked by our members for a small price. We raised over $1,4200 for our philanthropy which was an amazing accomplishment for the event's first run!
